Finding your happy place
Share
Have you ever looked up the definition of 'happy place'?
'A place which a person associates with happiness, visualised as a means of reducing stress, calming down, etc.; (hence) a happy state of mind.'
Can you think of a place you always feel calm, at peace and genuinely happy?
Today I'm going to share some tips for finding that happy place in your life.
1. Surround yourself with beauty
Beauty can come in all forms, it can be a beautifully decorated room in your home, maybe it's being amongst your lush garden, sitting on the beach listening to the sound of the waves crashing. Make it a point to take a moment to bask in a space that brings you some peace and inspiration in your life.
2. Check something off your bucket list
Is there some place you've always wanted to visit? Since travelling internationally is out of the question for a lot of us right now, try exploring a new part of New Zealand. Maybe you've always wanted to learn a second language, learn to play the guitar or hike one of the greatest New Zealand hikes. Something you've been putting off for whatever reason, pick one and commit. You will not only feel a sense of accomplishment, you'll feel powerful and fulfilled too.
3. Read a new book
There are so many incredible books out there, grab a book, head to the beach and lounge for the day. Notice how you feel when you are fully present with no where to be. Soak in the fresh air, good book and sense of calm surrounding you. If you're not a beach person then head to that place in your garden or your favourite cafe and nestle in for a while.
4. Get Active
Moving the body has so many benefits, physically, mentally and emotionally. With benefits like increased energy and reduced stress levels, it's much easier to find your happy place. Try something new - pilates, yoga, or boxing.. see what your local community has to offer. Physical activity releases endorphins in your body which are attributed to feelings of happiness.
How can you prioritise spending time in your physical happy place more often? To truly see, hear, smell, and feel yourself in your most fulfilling environment.
If you struggle with this then try setting reminders on your calendar, carve out times where you can be present in your happy place.
You’ll be amazed at how simple this change can play a huge part in bringing more happiness into your life. Everything will benefit from this, you'll have more energy, a more positive outlook, work will improve, your relationships will benefit.
